a tabloid poster for a play, 2024
This poster was made for Campbell University’s Theater department. In the Spring semester of 2024, Professor Georgia Martin asked me to design a poster for a play she was directing. Samuel Beckett was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1969. His masterpiece, Waiting for Godot, is a staple in theaters around the world. Since the whole play is set around a single bare tree, I also arranged the whole composition around it. To emphasize the feeling of isolation and abandonment the title is visually separated from the other textual elements. I meticulously paid attention to kerning and leading aligning ‘n’ with ‘d’ and ‘g’ with ‘o’ respectfully, contributing to the overall sleekness of the composition. With various diagonal lines I was able to create a dynamic and motion-filled theatrical poster. The colors are predominantly gray and brown representing the somber atmosphere of the play.
