One Hundred Years of Modern Iraq
a centennial poster, 2021

Iraq 100 was a show set to celebrate 100 years of the modern Iraqi state. One Hundred Years of Modern Iraq is a commemorative poster consisted of three graphic elements: the word ‘Iraq’ in Arabic, the words ‘IRAQ 100’ in English Latin, and the stylized, bronze Head of an Akkadian Ruler from Nineveh (c. 2250 B.C.). This masterpiece probably depicts Sargon the Great, or Naram-Sin, who was Sargon’s grandson. It is kept in the Iraq Museum in Baghdad. My poster celebrates the rich history of Iraq. The letters are going into three different directions underlying the dynamics of the typography.
